‘Apple GPT’
The chatbot one is entitled LLM in a flash: Efficient Large Language Model Inference with Limited Memory.
The ‘flash’ in the title is a pun, as it’s about minimizing the amount of data which needs to be transferred from flash storage to RAM. LLMs is the generic term for AI chat systems that have been trained on large amounts of text.
LLMs [have] intensive computational and memory requirements [that] present challenges, especially for devices with limited DRAM capacity. This paper tackles the challenge of efficiently running LLMs that exceed the available DRAM capacity by storing the model parameters on flash memory but bringing them on demand to DRAM. Our method involves constructing an inference cost model that harmonizes with the flash memory behavior, guiding us to optimize in two critical areas: reducing the volume of data transferred from flash and reading data in larger, more contiguous chunks.

Pawn shops, boutique consulting firms and others are finding ways to leverage AI for a fraction of of what a new employee would cost
Arion Herbert and his wife, Erica, started their recreational sports-league business in 2016. What started off as a way to gather friends and family outdoors quickly turned into a league with players and teams from all around Charlotte, N.C.
The company, called Main Attraction Recreational Sports or "MARS," has since grown to making close to $500,000 in annual revenue, and Herbert said he believes the success is, in part, due to generative artificial-intelligence tools.
Herbert hired assistance through the online freelance marketplace Fiverr to create AI-generated marketing materials for their events. He said the use of AI marketing has helped MARS stand out and attract more customers than when they were merely relying on word-of-mouth marketing and a homemade logo.

This week, A new batch selection feature on the website.
Simply go to “My Images” and select images that you like with shift+click or click+drag and then press “Download/Publish/Unpublish” according to your need.
Phrase Two — Image Generation🌟
An alpha version of the website has been released with on-site image generation.
For now, entry is limited to top creators with over 10,000 images generated. But after testing wraps up, the improvements become available to all.
The feature will be made available to new users once the community and social aspects of the website have been enhanced.
Meta dismissed thousands of employees in 2023, which Mark Zuckerberg dubbed the “year of efficiencies.”
But when a machine-learning glitch misappropriated hundreds of millions of dollars from Meta advertisers, even those who spent millions or tens of millions of dollars on the platform per year had little recourse aside from contacting a chatbot AI (which fixed a grand total of zero problems across tens of thousands of accounts).
Meta has lost the pulse of its customer base, and it doesn’t care much. (The people they’d complain to were fired.)
Google advertisers, meanwhile, have fretted since the company launched a paid account service tier in August, shunting more default free services to AI. The feedback is dismal, but the AI train doesn’t stop for that. Search Engine Land reports Google has big plans to expand AI’s role in customer service in 2024.
